DURHAM — Adam Chamberland of Durham was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout May 7 at a Scouting Eagle Court of Honor.
The son of Michael and Christie Chamberland, Adam has been in Scouting since he was 6 years-old and completed his Eagle Board of Review Dec. 22. The ceremony was at the Durham AMVETs Hall and was well attended, including members of Troop 145, family, friends, Abnaki District executives and State Rep. Jeff Timberlake, R-District 22.
Through his career as a scout, Adam helped raise money for the Durham Giving Tree every year, volunteering his support at local events and many trail clean-ups. In the summer of 2018, Adam and several scouts from his troop canoed, swam and hiked the Allagash Waterway in Northern Maine, earning Scouting’s “50 Mile Award.”
Adam was one of 40 scouts from Maine selected to represent the state at the World Scouting Jamboree held at the Betchel Scouting Reserve in West Virginia in 2019. More than 45,000 Scouts from around the world attended the two week event.
For his Eagle service project, Adam built a pavilion at the Runaround Pond Recreation Area in Durham. With help from his troop, family and donations from several local businesses, Adam completed the pavilion in October 2021. Adam recently graduated from Freeport high School and will be attending the University of Maine School of Engineering in Orono.
