Sabbatus residents sought to help design, implement community garden

SABATTUS – Town residents can help out with creating a town community garden, joining in design and planning workshops.
The effort is part of a graduate student research project, and the volunteer steering committee members will design, develop and build a community garden from the ground up through four workshops. The garden will be implemented on Community Garden Day at Sabattus Primary School, 36 Ball Park Road.
The workshops will be held in the Oak Hill High School Library, 56 School Road, in Wales, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday April 3, April 24, May 8 and May 22.
Community Garden Day will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Sabattus Primary School, when the garden will be implemented.
Kelli M Gilzow Stowell, a University of Southern Maine graduate research student in the adult and higher education has been working with the select board and Regional School Unit 4 officials on the project.
