Connection of Maine towns, families May PGS topic

Apr. 102023

BRUNSWICK – The interconnectedness of Maine towns and family history will be the May topic of the Pejepscot Genealogical Society, 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St.
The program is free and open to the public.
PGS member David Blethen will give the talk, “The Blethens of Frankfort, Maine,” which was developed for the Frankfort Historical Society, but is useful to all Maine genealogy enthusiasts. The talk explores motivations for migration and demonstrates how all Maine towns are interconnected by family history. Blethen uses themes such as religion and the granite industry to discuss corresponding research methods and resources. He hopes the talk encourages other PGS members and guests to present their own family histories.
Blethen is a Maine native raised in Waldo County who now lives in Lisbon. He is an amateur genealogist with 45 years of research to his credit.
