Durham election, town office information updated

DURHAM — Regional School Unit 5 (Durham, Freeport and Pownal) will not hold the annual budget meeting on Wednesday, June 17, as planned. Instead, a virtual public hearing on the FY21 budget will be held via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 24.
The public hearing will be accessible by clicking here. The meeting ID is 834 7883 7253.
The Zoom budget public hearing will also be accessible by telephone at 1-646-876-9923. Use the same meeting ID as above.
The Budget Referendum will be held on Tuesday, July 14, in each town of RSU5.

July 14 primary, absentee voting
The state primary and special referendum election is set for Tuesday, July 14. Both in-person and absentee voting are available for the election.
Durham residents can vote in person from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 14 at the Durham AMVETS Post 13, 1049 Royalsborough Road. Those who would rather vote by absentee ballot and minimize interaction with others during the COVID-10 pandemic are also permitted to do so.
Absentee ballots may be requested in writing, by phone, online or in person up to and including the day of the election, without specifying a reason. Those asking to receive a ballot by mail, must request it early enough to allow postal mail delivery – both to receive it and return it (two to five days each way).

* You can request an absentee ballot online or by mail from the secretary of state’s website
* Ballots must be returned to the municipal clerk no later than 8 p.m. on election day, July 14.

Town office is open
The Durham Town Offices are open to the general public with limited hours.
The Town Offices are open from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday; and from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday.
The Town Offices are open by appointment only for members of vulnerable populations from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday. Call 207-353-2561 for an appointment.
