Bridgton, Litchfied players take home trophies from state table tennis tourney

BANGOR — Two central Maine players were among those who brought home trophies from the Annual Arthur Lekousi Maine State Table Tennis Tournament, which was sponsored by the Bangor Table Tennis Club and was held on Nov. 23, at the Bangor Fitness Center.
Kurt Bechtel, of Litchfield, and Bill Preis, of Bridgton, came in first and second respectively, in the B Singles division.
Players from all over the state came to enjoy the great facility and healthy competition on eight tables in six classes, said Preis.
Winners were:
Doubles: 1st, Ryan Roux, of Lamoine/Shawn Charest, of Brewer; 2nd, Josh Warren, of Herman/Lucas Soo, of Hampden.
A Singles: 1st, Amjad Mehboob, of Scarborough; 2nd, Sonu Bhatia, of Westbrook.
B Singles: 1st, Kurt Bechtel, of Litchfield; 2nd, William “Bill” Preis, of Bridgton.
C Singles: 1st, Abhivadan Sharma, of Portland; 2nd, Freeman Doore.
Newcomer Singles: 1st, Brady Harding; 2nd, Broderick Hodsdon.
Over 40 Singles: 1st, Sonu Bhatia, of Westbrook; 2nd, Svet Kirtchev, of Westrbook.
