Sabattus American Legion Post 135 holds annual installation

SABATTUS — Harry J. Conway Post 135 recently installed officers for both the Auxliary and the American Legion.
Auxiliary officers were installed by Department Secretary Michelle Strom McCrea, assisted by Sergeant at Arms Veronica Gurney and Chaplain Virginia Chaput. Each officer received a pin and sash signifying the office of their appointment. Installed were:
Denise Michaud, president; Joan Caron, first vice president; Jen Caron, secretary/treasurer; Debra Devoe, chaplain;
Joan Fournier, sergeant at arms.
After the installation of the Auxiliary officers, Ron Caron was present to lead the installation of Post Legion officers. He is a member, former post commander of the Sabattus unit and a former historian. He was assisted in the installation by Kirk Thurston, Rumford Post 24, who acted as his installation sergeant-at-arms; Tricia Thurston, department chaplain, acted as his installation chaplain.
Officers are:
Joseph Michaud, post commander; Don Caron, first vice commander; Joseph Tetreault, second vice commander; James Rancourt ‚ adjutant; Tony Culpovich, finance officer; David Devoe, chaplain; Don Gosselin, sergeant-at-arms; Gordon Smith, post historian; Amedeo Lauria, post service officer; Tracey Rancourt, Americanism officer.
Eligible wartime veterans interested in what the American Legion has to offer may visit the Sabattus post website at www.americanlegionpost135.sabattus.net to see the activities of Post 135. There are many activities hosted by the post to engage veterans in the local and surrounding communities. Prospective members are always welcome and encouraged by the post to visit.
