LISBON — Morgan Fenderson of Lisbon, a student at Lisbon High School, has been selected to receive the school’s 2018 Principal’s Award.
The Maine Principal’s Association each year honors one outstanding senior nominee from each high school in the state at the MPA Honors luncheon. This year’s event will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at the Spectacular Event Center, 395 Griffin Road.
“Throughout her years at Lisbon High School, Morgan has exhibited the qualities we strive for all our students to display on a daily basis,” Principal Susan Magee said. “She is a role model and leader within our school, on the playing field/courts, and in the community. Morgan is very deserving of this recognition, and we congratulate her on a successful four years at our high school. She will do great things in life.”
Fenderson and Magee and other award winners and their principals will attend the luncheon, which recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowan and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the association. An additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
Students in attendance are presented the MPA Principal’s Award by the principal (or designee) of their school. The participation of the principal (rather than a designee) adds to the importance of the award. The criteria for this award are academic excellence, outstanding school citizenship and leadership. Each school is to define and interpret these criteria in its own school setting.
