SABATTUS — The Sabattus American Legion Harry J. Conway Post 135 will celebrate the American Legion’s 99th birthday from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, with an open house and free bean supper for area veterans at the post, 40 Island Road.
A cake-cutting ceremony will follow the meal. There will be an accredited American Legion service officer on hand to answer questions about VA benefits as well as Legionnaires to talk about Legion programs and membership in our local post.
A meeting of American Legion Department of Maine District 3 will begin at 2 p.m. The Sabattus American Legion has been serving the community since December 1924.
