“True Friends”
A true friend is someone who cares to ask how you are.
Friends can help each other.
A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself
Especially to feel. Or, not to feel.
Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them
They will ask. “Do you?”
Letting a person be who they really are
And like them for them.
A true friend.

“Kam’s Speech”
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Kamden. When I first came into this family five years ago, Papa welcomed me right into the family as one of his granddaughters. He has always made me feel better when I’m hard on myself and taught me to be proud of who I am.
Papa is important to me because he says things like, “You’re lucky I like you!” or “Oh, hi there!” He always says them to me.
Papa is very strong in so many ways. He makes me want to be just like him.
When he picks me up from school, he asks me about my day. Papa makes me feel special in so many ways. Especially when we are creating masterpieces or working on his big old yellow tractor. Papa and I wear matching overalls when we work on those projects. I sing a little song for him; it goes, “Overalls, overalls, Kamden loves her overalls. Overalls, overalls, Papa loves his overalls. Overalls, overalls, me and Papa love our overalls! Yea!”
It’s nice to have a great Papa around! Thank you and I love you for being there for me!
“Poison”
By Hailey Bean
A clear cup holding brownish water was thrown into her mouth, the poison-tinted water slowly trickled down her throat burning a trail into her esophagus. Her veins turned purple as a poison seeped through them. She screamed a scream so ear piercing it was torture. She was surrounded by a watery jungle that was slowly turning black around her. And just like the poison in her blood, she seeped into the dark black abyss just beyond her vision, and she faded into it. Her life events played out like a movie. It all started when she was a baby. A beautiful gray-eyed girl, who loved everything and held no grudges. Well she couldn’t, she was a baby. Her laughter attracted the sound of birds, and her tears could make the river flood. A woman appeared in front of her.
“Hello, my dear little Riley, you are born to do great things. Let your fate and heart guide you, because if you use your head it will be too late.” The little girl was confused, but smiled anyway. The woman’s kind smile was wiped off her face and replaced with frantic eyes. There was screaming, there was orange hot stuff that spread across your body setting it alight. Or at least that’s what it was to the baby; that was also the day when she found out humans could be set on fire.
One year later she is officially two years old. She found her first friend, her name was Lily. Lily was a bright-eyed girl, who was kind of more behind than the other two-year-old children. She preferred adult and teenage stuff like makeup and finding the cutest two-year-old out of the group for her and Riley.
Riley was the exact opposite, she preferred to stick with her studies and enjoyed being a child even though she had to live with her aunt. Lily and Riley were best friends. They were perfect friends, and cousins. Two years later Riley was four and started attending school, but soon had to drop out and be homeschooled because people were bullying her for her lack of parents, due to the fire that was so mysteriously started. Her official nickname to all was Orphan.
That was about the time everyone found out it was possible for a four year old to be depressed. Four years later after being called Orphan and being told to just shake off her depression, the eight-year-old girl found out about knives. She soon started a collection, and took out her anger by slowly dragging the blade across the skin of her thigh, and licked the blood from the blade. She would take lighters and burn off the skin of her fingertips so no one could find her.
When she turned ten she finally got a puppy. A German shepherd-wolf hybrid. It was huge and clumsy for it hadn’t yet grown into its large paws. The girl couldn’t be happier. The depression flew away like Peter Pan, and her life did a 180. Her scars didn’t go away, but they healed just reminding her of what could have happened if she continued down that track. She smiled more and was healthy. Yes she had her scars and saw the real world for what it is, but it didn’t matter all that mattered was her dog. Her reputation changed and she went back to a public school when she turned eleven years old.
Once she was twelve she lost her dog along with her soul. It was tragic; her dog got loose and ran into the forest. The girl was crushed, and her soul lifted out of her body and followed her lost puppy.
She was finally twelve. She was in seventh grade. She finally found a boy she liked, sadly he didn’t even know she existed, and if he did he acted like she wasn’t there. He was the only reason she was still alive, he was the hope she clung to. That one day she would be someone in his eyes. One day he was laughing with his friends. They all turned her way and her heart skipped a beat. He walked her towards her and waved, they had a conversation and she didn’t stutter once. After a few months he finally asked her out. He took her out on dates. In eighth grade they had their first kiss, and her grades skyrocketed. When they were freshmen he had become distant, so she became colder towards him, but he soon came back down to Earth, therefore she warmed up to him again.
They were happily dating for a year, until one day when they were both sophomores. Her aunt was out of town, and Lily was throwing a party. Everyone from their grade was coming. Riley’s boyfriend had come too, but he forgot that Riley lived there and he also knew that parties weren’t her thing, but he went to find his side chick.
Riley was descending the staircase when she stumbled upon her boyfriend and her best friend, Lily. They were making out like there was no tomorrow. That’s when she pulled back her fist and pushed it forward with full force, and her fist connected with his jaw. He stumbled under the impact of her fist. And she pushed past Lily, and ran to where her soul had escaped her body. The forest. She ran to where she saw her puppy ran away four or five years ago. She ran until she collapsed at a river. In her boot was a brown bottle with a skull, she slowly took it out and found a disregarded clear plastic cup, filled it with water, and poured a couple drops of the brown bottle into the clear water. And she smiled as the liquid trickled down her throat.
She fell to the ground and stared up at the sky, suddenly she felt a weight on her chest. She looked at the brown curious eyes that belonged to none other than the lost wolf dog. Her last words that escaped her lips were. “I love you Pi, you were my only real friend.” Then her eyes shut and she let out a peaceful sigh. The dog let out a howl of grief and he laid his head on her chest, and licked her every once in a while to see if she would wake up. He stayed with her until she was found the next morning, he wouldn’t let anyone approach her until the aunt came forward, that’s when he lowered his hackles, and he looked around at all the people he saw as threats he gave them a menacing growl that promised death, and he bounded further into the woods to return to his pack and family.
