LISBON — Miranda Torrey, a student at Lisbon Community School will compete for the national title of USA National Princess, as well as thousands of dollars in college scholarships, prizes and full-ride college scholarships to Troy University in Alabama.
Along with other young women from across the United States, Miranda who is the reigning USA National Miss Downeast Maine Princess, will travel to the Boca Resort & Beach Club from July 10-15, 2017, for the USA National Miss Scholarship Pageant. Representing the state, Miranda will compete in evening gown, interview and a runway fashion show event in order to claim the honor of being crowned the national winner.
This past August, Miranda along with over 80 other contestants competed in the Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant to vie for the Miss Maine Titles. Miranda accomplishments at the pageant include, Miss Downeast Maine Princess 2017, Miss Maine Jr. Supermodel, Miss Maine Primary (1st runner up), finalist for Miss Maine Jr. Role Model, a Gold Presidential Award for volunteering and a participation award.
Miranda Rayne Torrey, 8, a third-grader at Lisbon Community School, is the daughter of Rachel and Donald Torrey. She began competing in pageants just over a year ago. As a former Allstar cheerleader Miranda learned at a young age about dedication and believes that you can achieve anything if you work for it. Miranda enjoys dance, tumbling and building forts. Miranda also enjoys volunteering in her community and often focuses her volunteering to help other children.
USA National Miss provides young women ages 4 to 25 with the opportunity to combine their love of pageantry with other optional elements to custom design their pageant experience, whether their focus is on fashion and modeling, or talent, education, community service and mentorship. Awarding six national titles, USA National Miss has awarded over half-a-million dollars in cash, prizes and full- ride college scholarships since 2015.
