LISBON — The Lisbon Greyhounds baseball team remained undefeated (20-0) throughout the regular season, winning the Class C South championship on June 14, before falling to Bucksport in the Class C Championship June 18.
In Class C South tournament games the Greyhounds beat Oak Hill 18-0, Monmouth Academy 3-2, and Maranacook 10-0 for the championship. Talent, desire, player focus and coaching would appear the supporting combination. As the Greyhounds cruised to victory over Maranacook, one parent said, “They have been finely manicured to this point.”
In the June 18 Class C state championship game, Lisbon out-hit North champion Bucksport, but couldn’t get a run across the plate. Pitcher Hunter Brissette, a senior, was awarded the MVC Class C South Player of the Year and was among the candidates for Mr. Maine Baseball 2022. He will play for the University of Southern Maine next year.
The Greyhounds last won the state title in 2019.
