SABATTUS – The Sabattus Rec Running Program has scheduled its tradition two – mainly noncompetitive – summer 5K runs.
The runs/walks are for all ages, and anyone can win a prize. There are prizes for first place male and female at each event, but most prizes are not based on time. The runs are 6 p.m. Thursday, July 21, and Thursday, Aug. 18, at Oak Hill Middle School, Ballpark Road.
Both begin at 6 p.m., with registration starting at 5 p.m.
The July 21 event is the Blackjack 5K. Participants collect two cards on the course, and if they get blackjack they win a prize. If they don’t, they get one more card at the finish line to try for a three-card total of 21. All 21s win a prize. The remainder of prizes will be raffled.
The Aug. 18 event is the Prediction 5K. Participants guess their finish time when they register, and no watches, trackers, earbuds, or any electronic devices are allowed on the course. Prizes will be awarded starting with the closest to their guess, and work down the list. There will also be a prize raffle after the top 10 guesses.
The registration for each is $5 to help cover expenses.
