BRUNSWICK – The Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program will partner with The School House 1913 and chef Amy Aloe for its 7th annual Harvest Dinner on Friday Oct. 8 and 15.
The event will feature three-course seasonal meals, with proceeds benefiting MCHPP’s continued efforts to provide all members of the community with access to healthy food.
Meals this year will be take-out, rather than a sit-down dinner.
“Our Harvest Dinners have historically brought community members together to celebrate the growing season’s success, while also raising funds to support services for our neighbors experiencing food insecurity,” said MHPP Executive Director Karen Parker. ”We are excited to be offering donors delicious restaurant-quality meals to enjoy in the safest way possible again this year.”
The menu will include apple and kohlrabi salad with charred chili chimichurri dressing, a choice of eggplant ratatouille with smoked mozzarella polenta or roasted stuffed porchetta served over smoky farro risotto prepared by chef Joseph Arena of The School House 1913 restaurant in Harpswell. An optional dessert of salted caramel chocolate layer cake will be prepared by Aloe.

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program provides healthy food, including prepared meals and grocery distribution at local schools and satellite locations in Harpswell, Bowdoin and Lisbon Falls.
The MCHPP food pantry, at 12 Tenney Way, is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, as well as 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. The Soup Kitchen serves freshly made to-go meals from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays through Friday and noon to 1:20 p.m. Saturday.
