LISBON FALLS — In 2016, the Worumbo mill, then owned by Miller industries, was demolished, leaving an open waterfront space. In 2019, the town acquired the property and over the last year, town officials have been working on a plan to attracted mixed use development to the space.
Economic Development Director Brett Richardson has received town council approval to issue a request for qualifications to developers, looking to find one who will build two multi-use buildings at the site that would provide 60 apartments and retail space.
Meanwhile, Save the View at Worumbo, has formed. The group is made of of residents and business owners who would rather see community green space at the site for public events.
The group is working to bring public awareness of the development plan in an effort to let the people of Lisbon decide the future of such a valuable site.
