LISBON — The town’s Memorial Day commemoration will be held on Monday, May 31, with three ceremonies planned.
At 8 a.m., the holiday will begin with its official salute at St. Ann’s Cemetery, on St. Ann’s Street, followed at 10 a.m. by the Memorial Day Ceremony at the MTM Center, 18 School St., Lisbon Falls, and ending at noon with a Lost at Sea ceremony at Smith-McCarthy Park, Webster Street.
The events are sponsored by the American Legion Coombs-Mountfort Post 158 and Nelson-Conley Post 66, and this year’s theme is “Educate the Community.” To help promote this theme, the American Legions has invited several additional organizations that assist veterans to provide information for the community and veterans at the MTM Center starting at 9:30 a.m. Participating are Honor Flight, Summit Project, Lewiston Veterans Center, Maine Paws for Veterans, Veterans Alternative Sports & Training, the American Legion and the Auxiliary.
Following the ceremonies, American Legion Post 158 invites veterans to an open house at the post, at 10 Webster Road.
