LISBON FALLS — George Janosco of Lisbon will relive his journey to Nepal and a two-week trek to the base camp at Mt. Everest Wednesday, March 11 for the Lisbon Historical Society. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Parking and entrance are at the rear of the MTM building at 18 School St. in Lisbon Falls.
A 1974 graduate of Lisbon High School, Janosco is a former funeral director active in the local community for more than 30 years.
He has a great love of the outdoors and has enjoyed hiking for more than 50 years. He has hiked mountains of Maine, New Hampshire and Colorado, as well as Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and Mt. Vesuvius in Italy.
He will describe his recent trip, including the cultural gems and physical challenges of hiking to the base camp and on to the next level — Kalapatthar at 18,513 feet. He says it is “a trekking journey like no other.”
Janosco’s talk is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.
