Brownie Troop 1445 brings spring to Lisbon

Mar. 312017

LISBON – Spring is here and Brownie Troop 1445 is bringing it home to Lisbon. This journey began with seeds being planted at Lisbon Community Gardens and has continued progressing throughout the year. A big part of their journey included meeting Carol Day of L.A.C.O. at the MTM Center to do some volunteer work for their “Food for the Heart Patches.”

The seeds resulted in vegetables being donated to L.A.C.O., helping many Lisbon folks eat after a long, cold winter. The meeting at the MTM was a learning experience that taught the girls exactly what happens after items are donated. In addition to helping locals, the touring and volunteering has increased the troop’s awareness of community connections. The connections were so strong that the girls unanimously decided to dedicate a portion of their cookie money and future money earning to other L.A.C.O. endeavors.
These girls are the future of Lisbon, and they are learning how to be cheerful givers and how cheerful giving is facilitated. Girl Scouts of Maine provides services and support to over 16,000 girl and adult members statewide and builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
