Teens to Trails kicks of 2018 with statewide events

BRUNSWICK — Teens To Trails, an organization that aims to get teenagers outdoors and build high school outing clubs, has some activities planned to kick off 2018.
The Brunswick-based organization partners with Maine Huts & Trails in Kingfield, Maine Forest Yurts in Durham, and Equinox Guide Service in Union to help get teens outdoors and active. It is part of the Maine Outdoors Coalition.

Representatives of the group plan to be at the next Maine Outdoors Coaltion Happy Hour Network Gathering, from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Frontier Cafe in Brunswick. The gathering is free of charge.
The fourth annual Bow Ties & Bean Boots Fundraiser for Teens To Trails will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 6, at O’Maine Studiios in Portland. Tickets go on sale in early February.
The group held its annual winter weekend, Winter Skills outing on Jan. 20. More than 20 students and teachers from Cape Elizabeth, Cheverus, Gardiner and John Bapst high dchools skied and snowshoed to the Maine Huts & Trails Flagstaff Hut for the overnight outing. The organization offers such workshops and training in partnership with the Outdoor Sports Institute, based in Caribou.
