BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust, now in its new home at the Valentine Conservation Center, invites all in the area to visit the property between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at 162 North Road, 3/4 mile from the intersection with Route 2.
Inside, at a celebratory open house, enjoy some light refreshments and tour the building, a gift from Dick and Mary Valentine. The house now holds the land trust’s offices, conference area and a workshop and educational space being created through the generous efforts of the Bethel Rotary Club.
Those who wish to explore some of the center’s outdoor property are invited to bring snowshoes or other traction footwear for a venture into the mixed broad leaf and evergreen forest with knowledgeable naturalist Paul Motts. On the tour you will discover what animals are lurking about in the forests by observing the tracks they have left in the soft snow. The tour will leave from the parking lot at 1:30 p.m.

This event marks the land trust’s participation in the Great Maine Outdoor weekend, a series of events all over the state that celebrate active outdoor activity. The goal of the weekend is to connect friends and neighbors with the natural world, a goal shared by the land trust.
