BATH — The Chocolate Church Arts Center is offering a variety of shows in February.
On Friday, Feb. 9, Heather Pierson, an award-winning pianist, multi-genre singer/songwriter, arranger, bandleader and performer, will appear as part of the Kill The Chill Concert Series.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Annex, 804 Washington St. From New Orleans-style jazz and blues to rousing Americana and poignant folk narratives, Heather’s memorable live performances feature her virtuosity on piano, her bell-tone vocals, and her commanding yet playful stage presence while wielding a tenor banjo, melodica or acoustic guitar. She performs both solo and with her acoustic trio, featuring Davy Sturtevant on strings/cornet and Shawn Nadeau on upright bass.
On Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, Feb., 14, “Love Letters,” by A.R. Gurney will be performed by Jim and Phyllis McQuaide, who bring alive Melissa and Andy, characters who may remind many listeners of their own lives, or of the lives of people they hold dear. The show begins at 7 p.m. in the Annex.
Windborne will perform Saturday, Feb. 24, as part of the Kill The Chill concerts series. The show will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Annex.
Lynn Mahoney Rowan, Will Thomas Rowan, Lauren Breunig, and Jeremy Carter-Gordon educate as they entertain, telling stories about the music and explaining the characteristics and stylistic elements of the traditions in which they sing. They describe themselves as “picking up the torch of protest folk song for the next generation…old songs for new struggles.”
