LISBON FALLS– Media specialist Earl Williams will present many images drawn from the Lisbon Historical Society’s archives in a presentation titled “Then and Now.”
The photos from the past are mainly street scenes and buildings, some still quite recognizable but others drastically changed; some of the buildings are no longer standing.
The photos range from schools, churches and businesses to images of individual homes, trolleys, horse-drawn wagons and old vehicles. The program is “Part 2” of the October program about what it was like growing up in town in the 1940s.
Many of the old images date from the late 1800s, and others are from the more recent past.
Williams has restored many of the antique photos using computer software. What were barely recognizable originals in the archives have been brought back to life and offer a rare glimpse into scenes long gone. Williams has taken contemporary photos of the same scenes and buildings to show the many changes that have taken place over the years.
The presentation will take place 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Lisbon Historical Society rooms at the MTM Center, 18 School St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with refreshments served at the close of the meeting.
