LEWISTON – Maine teens can help select a statewide favorite book for the North Star YA Award by reading and voting for one of 21 nominees by March 31.
Participants can win copies of the books and be into a grand prize raffle.
Lewiston area teen readers ages 13-19 can join by picking up a challenge sheet at Lewiston Public Library, 200 Lisbon St. Readers in other Maine towns and cities can visit northstaryaaward.org for information on how to participate, which must be through their school or local library.
All participants will get their choice of one 2022-23 NSYA title to keep, and will be able to complete extra challenges to win more free books. In April, readers will be entered into a raffle for two $20 Dunkin gift certificates and a grand prize $50 gift certificate to Bullmoose.
To win more free books and for extra entries into the grand prize raffle, teen readers can:
Submit up to three book reviews of NYSA titles.
Create a piece of art (drawing, photo, collage, etc) about one of the NSYA titles they’ve read.
Read at least three NSYA titles and submit their vote for the winning book by March 31.
All books and prizes must be picked up at the Lewiston Public Library.
The North Star YA Award is a readers’ choice award for Maine’s students in grades 9-12. To be eligible to vote, students must have read at least three of the nominees. Voting will occur in schools and public libraries around the state. For more information, visit northstaryaaward.org.
