Three Eagle Scouts honored in delayed ceremony

HALLOWELL – BSA Troop 647 of Hallowell, as well as alumni, gathered Jan. 5 to enjoy dinner and recognize three young men who earned Eagle Scout rank a while ago but were never honored because of the pandemic.
Zachary Truman, Zackery Ellis and Corbin Eldridge all achieve the rank.

Truman earned his Eagle rank in October 2019 and has since graduated from Hall-Dale High School.
Eldridge completed Eagle requirements in February 2021, has also graduated from Hall-Dale and attends Thomas College in Waterville.
Ellis passed the Eagle Scout Board of Review in October 2020. He graduated from Gardiner High School and is attending the University of Maine. He is also in the National Guard aviation unit.
Scoutmaster Glen Glidden said, “These three Scouts faced the normal challenges of obtaining the rank of Eagle which is a daunting task with the addition of having to deal with the Covid pandemic. They are great examples of Scouting and I was very pleased to present these awards to them even if it was a bit later than they normally would receive them.”
The three Eagles each received an Eagle Scout coin from the troop that they can carry to remind them of the promise they made when they became an Eagle Scout. Maureen Malley, adjutant of Goodrich-Caldwell Legion Post 6 in Hallowell, congratulated the young men and presented them with certificates from the Legion.
