WEST GARDINER – Scouts from Troop 672 placed wreaths on the graves of veterans in town on Dec. 17 as part of Wreaths Across America.
The day began at the West Gardiner fire station, followed by a ceremony at the cemetery, where taps was played and wreaths were placed before the West Gardiner Honor Roll.
Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the mission to “remember, honor and teach” is carried out by coordinated wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia and more than 3,400 locations in all 50 states, as well as at sea and abroad.
