Rotary Club of Bethel hears about Girls on the Run, Bethel Historical Society youth museum program

BETHEL – The Rotary Club of Bethel heard from two outstanding programs recently.
Jenni Smith, coordinator of the Girls on the Run Program at Crescent Park Elementary School discussed the mission of the program. Two of the participants, Harper Phelps and Aleigh Deprey, also were guests of the club. Bethel Rotary is a supporter of the initiative, which is a national nonprofit that offers programming that strengthens third- to eighth grade girls’ social, emotional, physical and behavioral skills.
The club also welcomed Will Chapman, executive director of The Museums of the Bethel Historical Society, as well as volunteer Rosemary Laban. The pair provided a great overview of one of their signature programs, Mornings at the Museum. Held on Thursday mornings in July, the program welcomes area young people and participants of the Mahoosuc Kids Association, who enjoy making history come alive. Rotary is a major sponsor of the program.
