BATH – Patten Free Library’s annual Bath Book Bash will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Library Park.
The festival will feature more than 25 children’s authors and illustrators along with family-friendly entertainment.
“The mission of the Bath Book Bash is really about celebrating children’s literature and connecting readers and authors,” event chair Sheryl Ritchie said. “At the Bath Book Bash, readers will be able to meet authors in person, get books signed, attend author workshops and panels, and even have a chance to meet one of the most famous characters in all of children’s literature – Curious George!”
The festival kicks off with a performance from the Montsweagers on the gazebo stage. Some of the rest of the day’s events include an interactive read aloud with American Sign Language hosted by author Lynn Plourde; Comic Making with author-illustrator Jarrett Lerner; a STEM-themed program with author Katie Coppens; and a monster-making writing session with author Diane Magras.
New to the Book Bash this year is the Illustrator Draw-Off competition which pits five illustrators against each other in a good natured drawing competition that will be scored by a panel of kid judges.
Authors include Newbery Honor Award winners Rodman Philbrick and Cynthia Lord and Katahdin Award winners Cathryn Falwell, Kevin Hawkes, and Chris Van Dusen.
