Battle of Richmond Sept. 8 Chamberlain Roundtable topic

BRUNSWICK – Historian and author Victor Vignola will discuss the Battle for Richmond at the Joshua Chamberlain Civil War Roundtable at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, in the Morrel room, Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St.
The presentation is free and open to all.
Vignola will discuss the battle that pitted 11,000 Confederate troops under the command of Gen. Joseph E. Johnston against 2,000 Union troops until Gen. Edwin “Bull” Sumner’s II Corps arrived to assist. The battle had 11,168 casualties.
Vignola has written articles on Civil War topics and delivers tours at various Civil War sites. His book “The Battle of Fair Oaks-Contrasts of Command” is due out next year.
