HALLOWELL – BSA Troop 647 prepared and served a free breakfast to area veterans, active military personnel and their families on Veteran’ Day at American Legion Post 6.
Past and present Scouts, along with family members, set up the venue and got cooking before 7 a.m. on Nov. 11 to prepare for the 9 a.m. meal.
The menu included eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, hash, fresh fruit salad, coffee, juice, and baked goods. The Scouts have done this annually for more than 10 years, with the exception of 2020, which was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Scouts of Troop 647 said they wanted to thank families and friends who worked many hours behind the scenes gathering supplies, shopping, organizing and preparing food the evening before breakfast. They also thanked donations from local businesses Hannaford, Walgreens, Dunkin’ Donuts, and PackGen.
