RANGELEY — Biologist and author James D. Paruk will discuss his book “Loon Lessons: Uncommon Encounters with the Great Northern Diver,” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Rangeley Public Library, 7 Lake St.
Paruk is a biology professor at St. Joseph’s College in Standish, and has observed and compared loons in locations ranging from Maine to Saskatechewan, Louisiana and California. In his book, Paruk discusses the loon’s calls, its amazing diving abilities and where it migrates in winter. Paruk will share slides, talk for a few minute, and read some passages from his book, saving time for a brief question and answer session at the end.
The event is free and open to the public. Stop by or call 207-864-5529 to sign up.
