Junior Achievement, MEMIC honor ‘extraordinary educators’ in May

PORTLAND — Statewide nonprofit and youth empowerment organization Junior Achievement of Maine has launched the inaugural Extraordinary Educators campaign, which will run through May.
Junior Achievement and sponsor MEMIC recognize educators as role models and mentors who help empower, motivate, and prepare students to envision their future and ignite a passion for continuous learning. The Extraordinary Educators campaign will take a closer look at Maine educators, their stories, their commitment to serving Maine’s youth and the impact they have on their students.
“We are lucky to work with educators across the state,” said JA Maine President Michelle Anderson. “Their dedication to their students every year, and especially over the past academic year, is truly extraordinary and we are honored to highlight their stories.”
According to Tony Payne, MEMIC senior vice president of external affairs, “MEMIC is the largest employer-based organization in a state that needs to replenish its workforce with skilled and motivated people. With more than 18,000 policyholders employing more than 200,000 people in every town and county, all employers rely on Maine teachers to prepare their kids with critical thinking skills and the ability to reason and effectively communicate. That’s why we’re so grateful to the teachers who bring Junior Achievement programming into their Maine classrooms.”
The promotion began May 3 as part of National Teacher Appreciation Week and will continue throughout May, highlighting educators from York County up to Aroostook County. For a list of those being honored, visit maine.ja.org/events/ja-extraordinary-educators.
