Upstream Cobbossee cleanup is Saturday April 17

GARDINER — After one year off, Upstream is again sponsoring the Cobbossee Earth Day Waterside Clean-Up and Rally for Fishes from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 17. Those who want to parcipate should gather on the Bridge Street bridge. Small teams will be sent out to special zones on Cobbossee Stream and several spots on lower Pleasant Pond this year. Gov. Janet Mills and others have been invited to join the effort as Maine begins to reawaken from a long winter, organizers said. “We’ll all be outside, nicely distanced and masked up working with others picking up trash,” the said. In 2019, 34 volunteers gathered up more than 445 pounds of trash, including 18 liquor nips. The system this year is streamlined, with garbage bag pickup, making the whole project volunteer-friendly and much safer, they said. For updates visit the Upstream Facebook page.
