BRUNSWICK — Brunswick High School Players, under the direction of Linda Gardiner, have been rehearsing their production of “PUFFS” outside in the amphitheater at Brunswick High School since school resumed in September. The new norm of face masks, social distancing and sanitizer was worked in seamlessly throughout the show.
The New York Times proclaims “PUFFS” as a “fast-paced romp through the ‘Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.’ For POTTERphiliacs who grew up alongside Potter and are eager to revisit that world, ‘PUFFS’ exudes a jovial, winking fondness for all things Harry!”
The clever and inventive play “never goes more than a minute without a laugh” (Nerdist) giving you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three potential heroes just trying to make it through a magic school that proves to be very dangerous for children. Alongside them are the Puffs, a group of well-meaning, loyal outsiders with a thing for badgers “who are so lovable and relatable, you’ll leave the theater wishing they were in the stories all along” (Hollywood Life). Their “hilariously heartfelt!” (Metro) and epic journey takes the classic story to new places and reimagines what a boy wizard hero can be.
The cast includes Ariel Siegfried, Marguerite Benham, Zoe Temple, Nolan Kaiser, Carly Mershon, Ava Gould, Sam Caswell; middle row, Sadie Higgins, Victoria Pulver, Samantha Melquist, Andrew Lyndaker, Ezra Chazin-Mills, Charlotte Blakemore; Logan Whelan, Jaden Nicita, Leo Venegas, Kolby Matthews; Joshua Pratt, Dakota Ryan, Madeline Kallin, Cameron Kaiser, and Caden Kaiser.
PUFFS outdoor theater production has been filmed and will live stream at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19, 20 and 21, with a matinee Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are only available online at our.show/bhsplayers/puffs. Individual tickets are $17; family tickets are $50.
