Cobbossee Stream, Gardiner celebrate new fish passage in Oct. 24 event

GARDINER — Cobbossee Stream and Gardiner connect with the world for World Fish Migration Day at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, by joining the livestream from the WFMD Foundation.
The public can join Upstream on the new pedestrian bridge in downtown Gardiner from 2 to 4:15 p.m. in support of fish passage. Upstream is one of 300 events in 70 countries to join WFMD Foundation live on Saturday.

The Gardiner community will celebrate the new downstream passage at American Tissue Dam, the first significant fish passage on the stream since 1761, and the annual return of the millions of juvenile Maine alewives and river herring to the sea.
Saturday is also the last day of the Wishes for Fishes outdoor art exhibit at Waterfront Park, featuring the artwork of Cobbossee watershed children.
Those attending must wear a mask and maintain six-foot physical distance to keep everyone safe. Signs and bells will be provided./a>
