JAY — Maine Dojo & Fitness Center, 5 Intervale Road, opened in January 2010 in Livermore Falls before expanding and moving to its current location in Jay. Since Maine Dojo instructos have taught martial arts to more than 250 students in the Jay and Livermore Falls areas. The following year, Maine Dojo added adult classes due to the high demand.

Two years later, Maine Dojo doubled the size of the fitness center; visitors to the facility are often surprised by the amount of space and the variety of equipment available. There is also plenty of matted space for floor work and stretching. For those interested in strength training, the fitness center has both free weights and machines. Even the most avid weightlifters will find everything they need, and if you are new to working out, the weight equipment is conveniently laid out and organized to make getting started safe and easy.
The fitness center provides 24-hour access at only $30/month with a 30-day cancellation notice, making this an affordable and safe environment for getting and staying fit.
Maine Dojo is a diverse martial arts school offering classes to all populations and age groups from four years-old to adult. Maine Dojo owner Sensei Jaaron Shaw has been teaching martial arts for more than 15 years. He says he loves working with all his students but has enjoyed a large, home-schooled population, as well as many special needs students.
The classes they offer constitute a life skills program. Each class is designed with a child’s age appropriate skills in mind. The youngest learn basic physical skills while incorporating mental skills such as counting and reading. They develop hand eye coordination and motor skills and are taught respect for basic rules and instructions. Older students are also responsible for retaining more information about martial arts concepts and how they influence the physical skills they are learning.
Maine Dojo and Fitness Center’s goal is to provide top quality instruction of martial arts and to maintain an affordable fitness center, where the local community can reach their health and fitness goals.
