Kennebec Savings Bank grant program deadline is May 22

AUGUSTA – Kennebec Savings Bank President and CEO Andrew Silsby has announced that the bank’s 2020 Catalyst Grant program will be designated to support local nonprofits experiencing financial hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead of providing grants to fund new initiatives as it has in years, the 2020 Catalyst Grant program will award three, one-time, $10,000 grants through a stream-lined, expedited application process to provide the timeliest support possible.
“We know that for many nonprofits in our service area, the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged their ability to carry out their core mission, let alone begin new projects,” said Silsby. “By shifting our focus in this manner, we are providing assistance to our nonprofit community partners how and when they need it most.”
Applications are now available on the Kennebec Savings Bank website and are due Friday, May 22. A committee comprised of nine employees from different areas of the bank will choose the organizations that will receive the grants through a competitive application process.
Created in 2016, the bank’s Catalyst Grant program has awarded more than $200,000 to nine organizations throughout the Bank’s service area. The program is part of the bank’s Community Dividends program. In 2019, the program contributed $1 million to hundreds of local nonprofits and causes within the bank’s service area.
Kennebec Savings Bank has made several other substantial donations to support COVID-19 relief causes, including two $10,000 gifts to each of the United Way of Mid-Maine and United Way of Kennebec Valley’s respective COVID-19 relief funds, among others.
