Norway Savings donates N95 maskts to health care organizations

May. 12020

NORWAY — Norway Savings Bank has donated 2,000 N95 respirator face masks to be split between Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice in Lewiston, Hospice of Southern Maine in Scarborough and Western Maine Health in Norway.
Masks were delivered to each organization on April 8. Because of the nationwide shortage of personal protective equipment, these organizations have been making due with limited supplies.
“As a regulated industry, banks are required to have pandemic plans and ours included having certain medical supplies on hand,” said Patricia Weigel, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “Recognizing there is a shortage of these masks, we decided to donate this potentially life-saving equipment to these great organizations.
“Their clinical staff members care for patients in their homes and to think they don’t have the proper protection is heartbreaking to us.”
Ken Albert, the CEO of Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice said they are grateful for the donation. “I called my employees together to share the news and many were literally brought to tears.”
