Congratulation to Tannon Sabina, of Gorham, winner of the “Name the Paper” contest.
Turner Publishing recently presented him with a $100 check for coming up with the name “Presumpscot Post.” Sabina has lived in Gorham since 1985, and has raised three children in the community with his wife, Lorene.
His children — Moses, Emma and Alec — are now all grown and living in the Portland area.
When asked how he came up with the name, Sabina recalled reading the first issue while sitting at the kitchen table. “I turned to my wife Lorene and said, ‘I like how this paper presented itself, and I really like the fact that it challenged us to find a name.’ ”
He said he immediately thought of the Presumpscot River and then came up with the name “Presumpscot Post,” adding, “It seemed only logical to relate this to our geography and history. I like the river, as it is the outlet (from) Sebago Lake, and there are many recreational trails along the river for taking the dog for a walk or enjoying a hike.”
Turner Publishing received many submissions, and the response to name this paper was overwhelming, noted publisher Jodi Cornelio. “The Windham-Gorham area is an embracing and warm community, and here at Turner Publishing, we hope to provide all the good news this community has to offer through the Presumpscot Post.”
