Windham resident, 100, is honored at Maine State House

AUGUSTA β€” Windham resident Phyllis Coffin was presented a legislative sentiment at the Maine State House on March 23 to commemorate her 100th birthday.
When the sentiment was presente , a group of Senators gathered around to congratulate her. Coffin took the opportunity to speak directly to lawmakers, encouraging them to embrace the spirit of American civil service and work together to help those in need.
Coffin, who turned 100 in December, was joined by her daughter Gail, grandchildren Bethany and Matthew, and her good friend Joel.
Sen. Tim Nangle, D-Windham, who joined the Legislature in welcoming Coffin, said, β€œIt was an honor to host Phyllis and her family and friends at the State House. Her life is a testament to her incredible character and attitude. Phyllis is truly a model citizen. I can only hope my life is nearly as full of adventure as hers has been.”
A legislative sentiment is an official expression of the Maine Legislature to recognize and honor academic, athletic, civic, professional or service-related accomplishments.
