WINDHAM – The Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce must be having a blast!
So far this year we have celebrated Business of the Year, Bangor Savings Bank, and Community Service Leadership Award recipients, Deb and Tom Matthews, at our Annual Meeting at Camp Sunshine in Casco.
We gave thanks to the many brave souls who plunged into a 32-degree Sebago Lake in February as part of our annual Polar Dip to raise money for our Feed the Need campaign. We cheered on the Maine Mariners at our February Business Break and welcomed new member Northern Lights Mechanical, who graciously hosted a March Business Break.
The fun continues when we kick off our Member Appreciation Week on May 22, at the chamber office, with this year’s Feed the Need check presentations to local food pantries.
Last year we donated $25,000 to local food pantries in the eight towns the chamber represents (Casco, Gray, Naples, New Gloucester, Raymond, Sebago, Standish, and Windham). Donations are down this year; however, the need is way up. If you can help, visit our website to make an online donation to Feed the Need today.
The fun doesn’t stop, as we begin preparations for the 23rd annual Sebago Lakes Region Chamber Scholarship Golf Open. The golf open fully funds the chamber’s high school and professional scholarship programs. This year’s golf open is on Thursday, June 8, and will be held at the Point Sebago Resort in Casco. The registration fee by May 27 is $125 per golfer (the cost does go up to $145 on May 28) and includes a continental breakfast, golf with cart, tons of contests and lunch! If you are a golfer, you won’t want to miss out on this amazing annual event. Check out the SLRCC website for more information, including pricing and sponsorship opportunities.
