Kiely steps in as Androscoggin Bank CEO

LEWISTON — Neil Kiely officially stepped into his new role as president and chief executive officer at Androscoggin Bank, effective Jan. 1.
At the same time, Paul H. Andersen, who led the bank as CEO for nearly a decade, has transitioned to chairman of the bank’s board of directors. Under Kiely’s leadership, Androscoggin Bank is committed to transforming the experience of community banking for its employees, clients and community partners.
“Neil’s non-traditional background makes him uniquely suited to take on the modern challenges of community banking,” Andersen said in a news release from the bank. “His entrepreneurial experience and legal expertise have already enabled us to become more agile in a highly regulated industry. It’s helped us reclaim our founding purpose as a mission-driven, values-based company, which led to us being named Aon’s National Best Employer last year. As chairman, I look forward to continuing to work together on our shared vision of making Androscoggin Bank the best company to work for and with, in the state of Maine.”
Before the appointment, Kiely served as chief operating officer, chief strategy officer and general counsel for the bank. In addition to being an attorney, Kiely also has extensive experience as a small business owner, real estate investor and wind and solar developer. His diverse background gives him an inside lens to the everyday motivations and challenges of business owners, the new release said.
“As president and CEO, I am committed to championing Mainers and our resilient business owners in particular who enrich our communities,” Kiely said. “That means building and maintaining deep relationships with our clients, so they can rely on us to advocate for their interests and we can better meet their needs and timelines, not the other way around.”
Androscoggin Bank has made significant investments in building a strong team of empowered individuals. The institution encourages employees to be creative and entrepreneurial, investing in their personal and professional development.
Headquartered in Lewiston, the bank has been independent for 150 years offering innovative banking solutions to meet customers’ individual needs. Androsoggin Bank has branches in Auburn, Turner, Gray, Brunswick, South Parais, Lisbon and Portland.
