UMA free dental cleanings, exams for kids is Feb. 21

AUGUSTA — The University of Maine at Augusta is offering free dental cleanings and exams for children at its Bangor campus on Friday, Feb. 21. The “Give Kids a Smile Day” at the UMA Dental Hygience Clinic at 201 Texas Ave., Bangor, will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Those who would like to book an appointment should call Bonny Largay at 207-262-7872. The event is being hosted in partnership with the American Dental Assocation, and is for children ages 1 to 18 who do not have a dentist.
The free appointments, which must be scheduled in advance, can include cleanings, exams, x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants and dental hygiene education. Students from UMA’s Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs will be conducting the appointments with the aid of local volunteer dentists and faculty members from UMA’s Dental Health Programs.
