Central, western Maine schools get grants from Teen to Trails

BRUNSWICK — Teens to Trails has announced 18 grants to schools through its 2019-2020 Grants-to-Clubs program. Many of the awards are gear or money that will allow outing clubs to buy the necessary gear to equip students for a successful outdoor adventure. Other clubs will receive financial grants up to $500 to fund the transportation and other costs that are often barriers to trip participation.
This year’s financial grants total $8,400 and gear grants total an estimated retail value of more than $2,000.
High schools getting grants are Old Orchard Beach High School; Carrabec High School, of North Anson; Monmouth Academy, Sacopee Valley High School, Hiram; Mountain Valley High School, Rumford; Madison Area Memorial High School; John Bapst Memorial High School, Bangor; Dirigo High School, Dixfield; Cheverus High School, Portland; Gardiner Area High School; Brunswick High School; Fryeburg Academy; Spruce Mountain High School, Jay; Mt. Ararat High School, Topsham; Maine Academy of Natural Sciences, Fairfield; Messalonskee High School, Oakland; The New School, Kennebunk; South Portland High School
