Topsham VFW post shows appreciation to Embrace-A-Vet

TOPSHAM — Rev. Joseph Lamarre Memorial VFW Post 2197 recently attended an Embrace-A-Vet training session for rescue dogs and veterans in Topsham.
The program places a rescue dog and a veteran together and trains to support and take care of each other. At the end of training, the dog is a certified service dog. Embrace-A-Vet is a local program, and its ongoing efforts to assist veterans have long impressed the membership of Post 2197.
After viewing and enjoying a portion of the training session, post Commander Roger Stevens presented trogram firector Tracy Shaw with a Certificate of Appreciation for Veteran Support, and a donation of $500 to help with future training sessions as a thank you for their dedication to local veterans.
VFW Post 2197 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping fellow veterans and veterans’ programs as well as the local community. The post actively seeks new membership of those who have served in areas of conflict. For more information, visit the post Facebook page, VFW Post 2197 Topsham, or contact Stevens at cha_rogsteve@comcast.net.
