BRUNSWICK — Cathi Belcher talk about the Harriet Beecher Stowe House at the January meeting of the Joshua Chamberlain Civil War Rountable.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in the Morrell Room, Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St. The talk, “Harriet Beecher Stowe: The Brunswick Years and Beyond,” is free and open to the public.
Newly renovated three years ago, the Stowe house is a national historic landmark, included in the national Underground Railroad Network to Freedom, and is owned by Bowdoin College. As the first educator and guide of the home and Brunswick environs that influenced Stowe in her two years living in the house and community, Belcher feels a direct kinship with the author, organizers of the talk said.
