Norway Memorial Library book group selections announced

NORWAY – The Norway Memorial Library has news about what’s coming up for two of its book groups in the coming months., the new “Powerful Reads” group and the “Books in the Afternoon” group.
Those looking to mentally and spiritually refresh in 2020 can join a new book discussion group, “Powerful Reads: Discussing Books with Heart and Mind.” The group will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. the second Friday of every other month, beginning in January, and meeting again in March and May. It’s free and open to the public.
The discussion will be facilitated by Susan Kane, a former elementary school teacher who has always enjoyed reading and discussing metaphysical books. Participants can read the books and then share their thoughts on personal growth and spirituality.
The selected books and dates for discussion are:
Jan. 10 — “Power of the Soul,” by John Holland (snow date Jan. 17);
March 13 — “The Power of Intention,” by Wayne Dyer (Snow date of March 20);
May 8 — “The Power of Now,” by Eckert Tolle.
There are limited copies of Power of the Soul to borrow, and they can be picked up at the information desk or requested through Minerva or MaineCat interlibrary loan system. The others may be requested through Minerva or by stopping by the information desk.
The selections for “Books in the Afternoon,” which meets from 3 to 4:30 p.m. the second Thursday of the month to discussion works of fiction have been picked for the next three months.
Jan. 9 — “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek,” by Kim Michele Robinson’
Feb. 13 — “The Harpmaker,: by Hazel Prior
March 12 — “The Warehouse,” by Rob Hart.
Participants are invited to bring a beverage; a snack will be provided.
