Androscoggin Bank holds ‘Greater Giving Week’ in honor of Andersen

LEWISTON – Androscoggin Bank will hold a Greater Giving Week in honor of Paul Andersen, who is leaving his post as CEO in January, and transitioning to a new role as chairman of the Bank’s Board of Directors.
In lieu of a traditional retirement celebration, Andersen requested that the bank give back to the community on his behalf. The result is the Greater Giving Week in Honor of Pau. Andersen, which includes coordinated volunteer activities for bank employees during the week of Nov. 11, as well as a month-long food collection effort at all Androscoggin Bank locations.
“It is truly reflective of Paul’s giving nature and community dedication that he asked to turn an opportunity for personal recognition into an opportunity for personal service” said Neil J. Kiely, president of the Bank. “He has been an incredibly valuable member of the Androscoggin Bank team, and we all look forward to continuing to work with him as he serves as chair of the cank’s Board of Directors.”
Recognizing Andersen’s passion around addressing food insecurity, the employees of Androscoggin Bank will focuse their volunteer efforts at food pantries and associated organizations during the week of Nov. 11. Among the organizations bank employes served were High Street Congregational Church Food Pantry, in Auburn; Good Shepherd Food Bank, in Auburn; Midcoast Hunger Prevention, in Brunswick; Gray Community Food Pantry; St. Mary’s Nutrition Center, in Lewiston; Trinity Jubilee Center, in Lewiston; Lisbon Area Christian Outreach; Project Feed at Woodfords Congregational Church, in Portland; Turner Community Food Pantry.
Additionally, beginning Nov. 1, each bank branch, as well as its administrative locations, has had collection areas available for food donations. Donations from the month-long effort will be distributed to each of the organizations where bank employees are volunteering, in addition to the Tri-County Food Cupboard in Jay and the Oxford Hills Food Pantry at Christ Episcopal Church in South Paris.
Community members who would like to contribute to the food drive are encouraged to bring donations to any of the 14 bank locations throughout Androscoggin, Cumberland and Oxford counties.
