Gaslight Theater final performance of 2019, 2020 season, announced

HALLOWELL — The Gaslight Theater wraps up it’s season with Agatha Christie’s “Spider Web,” and also has announced its 2020 season schedule.
In “Spider’s Web,” Clarissa, wife of a diplomat, is adept at spinning tales of adventure, but when a murder takes place in her drawing room she finds live drama much harder to cope with. Desperate to dispose of the body before her husband arrives with an important politician, she enlists the help of her guests. Hilarity ensues when they are interrupted by the arrival of wry detective Inspector Lord.
The play is a onscious parody of the detective thriller, and Christie delivers a unique blend of suspense and humor. There is tension and laughter in equal parts in an intricate plot of murder, police, drug addicts, invisible ink, hidden doorways and secret drawers.
The cast includes Sir Rowland Delahaye – Frank Omar, Hugo Birch – Mike Clements, Jeremy Warrender – Joseph Maranda, Clarissa Hailsham-Brown – Wendi Richards, Pippa Hailsham-Brown – Eleanor Maranda, Mildred Peake – Kathleen Leopold, Elgin – Gregor Smith, Oliver Costello – Henry Quintal, Henry Hailsham-Brown – Joe Blackwell, Inspector Lord – Ray Fletcher, Constable Jones – Matt Perry.
The play will be performed Nov. 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24 at Hallowell City Hall, Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 and Sundays are at 2 p.m.
The 2020 Bicentennial Season schedule will include plays by Maine playwrights or take place in Maine, including:
“Last Gas” by John Cariani — March 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, with a birthday show as Maine became a state on March 15, 1820.
The world premier of “Almost Cowgirls,” an original musical by Valerie Bennett, the theater’s Pride Month show, June 18, 19, 20, 21 26, 27, 28.
“Whales of August” by David Berry, Aug. 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23.
“Almost, Maine” By John Cariani, Nov. 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22.
