TOPSHAM — The Topsham Public Library is accepting submissions for its annual Joy of the Pen writing competition.
The contest is for year-round Maine residents submitting previously unpublished works, and submissions are accepted through Saturday, Oct. 5. Submissions were accepted beginning Sept. 7.
The competition is sponsored by The Cryer, the Friends of the Topsham Public Library, and Just Write Books. Last year, nine prizes were awarded in the categories of adult fiction, nonfiction and poetry; teen fiction and poetry; and Maine-related nonfiction.
A reception will be held at 1 p.m., Saturdya, Nov. 16, to announce the winners.
