Topsham library screening versions of ‘Treasure Island’ through June

TOPSHAM — Topsham Public Library is partnering with Maine State Music Theatre to introduce Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel “Treasure Island” to a wider public.
The library is showing screenings different versions of the movie “Treasure Island” at 1 p.m. on Saturdays June 8, 15 and 22. The screenings are free and open to the public. Popcorn will be served.
June 8 will feature the 1990 adaptation starring Christian Bale and Charlton Heston. The film is not rated.
June 15 will feature the 1972 version starring Orson Welles, Walter Slezak, Lionel Stander and Kim Burfield. This version is rated G.
June 22 will feature “Muppet Treasure Island,” fully restored and remastered. The 1996 film is a fun-packed, music-filled swashbuckler the entire family will enjoy starring Tim Curry, Kevin Bishop, Billy Connolly, Jennifer Saunders and Dave Goelz. This film is rated G.
On June 1, the library showed the 1975 re-release of the 1950 first all-live-action “Treasure Island” from Walt Disney.
