LEWISTON — The L-A Metro Chamber of Commerce and L/A Arts, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, are partnering with developers of the new Hartley Block in the heart of downtown Lewiston to create a vibrant creative work and gallery space for artists and artisans.
The 4,000-square-foot space with windows on Lisbon Street is planned as a creative cooperative of artists’ studios and retail spaces with a variety of reasonably priced configurations.
A tribute to artist Marsden Hartley and a long tradition of creative makers, the Hartley Block is ready to be the Twin Cities’ next thriving makers’ space.
An open house will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Hartley Block, 155 Lisbon St. From 1 to 2:30 p.m , the public may see the space, meet the developers and learn about occupancy options and terms.
From 2:30 to 3 p.m. those attending may learn about local resources for creatives and tour a nearby makers’ space. From 3 to 4 p.m., a gathering at a nearby pub will be held, so artists and artisans my network. To register for the free event, visit lametrochamber.com or call 207-783-2249.
